Data Centre Systems Engineer (NV1/NV2 Cleared)

We are seeking multiple highly skilled Data Centre Systems Engineers with NV1 or NV2 security clearance to join our delivery team supporting secure infrastructure environments across government and enterprise customers.

To be successful you will require deep hands-on technical expertise across Windows/Linux systems, VMware, networking, firewalls, and automation technologies.

These positions are on-site only (Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne) due to the sensitive nature of the work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support Windows and Linux server infrastructure within secure environments.
  • Operate and administer VMware virtualisation platforms in large-scale data centre environments.
  • Configure and maintain network routing, switching, and load balancing solutions.
  • Implement, operate, and maintain firewall platforms and related network security devices.
  • Support automation initiatives using Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) , GitHub, and ServiceNow integration.
  • Where applicable, provide expertise in Algosec for firewall policy analysis and optimisation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with security, performance, and availability requirements.
  • Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis across infrastructure and security domains.
  • Document designs, configurations, and operational processes to support knowledge transfer and audit requirements.
  • Requirements

  • NV1 or NV2 clearance (mandatory – no exceptions).
  • 5+ years’ experience in data centre systems administration and infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong expertise with:
  • Operating Systems – Windows Server, Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Virtualisation – VMware ESXi, vSphere.
  • Networking – routing, switching, load balancing (Cisco/Juniper/F5/others).
  • Firewalls – configuration and administration (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower, CheckPoint).
  • Experience with automation and integration tools: Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), GitHub, ServiceNow.
  • Familiarity with Algosec (highly desirable, though rare skill).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex environments.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Desirable Skills

  • Experience in secure government or defence environments.
  • Exposure to hybrid cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., ISM, Essential Eight, ISO 27001).
  • Vendor certifications (VMware, Cisco, Microsoft, Red Hat, or firewall/security vendors).

  • On-site presence is mandatory due to clearance and environment restrictions (ACT, Sydney, Melbourne).
  • No remote or hybrid work options are available.
  • Occasional on-call support and after-hours work may be required.
